In a quaint old Austin house nestled among beautiful trees on South Lamar, co-owner and chef Tyson Cole approaches Asian style Austin funky perfection with Uchi, one of the region's most heralded restaurants and the eatery that propelled chef Cole to stardom as one of Food and Wine's 10 best new American chefs. The interior is cozy and romantic, the service is exemplary, and the food is as tasty as it is artistic.a fusion of Asian and American flavors. The sushi and sashimi are crisp and exceptional, and there are some unusual takes on dishes like Uchiviche, a martini glass filled to overflow  with marinated striped bass, salmon, tomatoes, bell peppers and Thai chiles. Another crowd pleaser is the Hot Rock, a blazing hot stone on which you can cook thin slices of beef or fish to your own specifications. Fine meat, shellfish and bird dishes complement the imaginative menu, and fabulous desserts like Valrhona chocolate or cucumber sorbet will round out a grand evening.
