If you make your way down Barton Springs Road to Zax Pints and Plates looking for a friendly bar in trendy South Austin you won't be disappointed. However you may be surprised to find a charming,  attractive restaurant attached to that bar. Under the watchful eyes of co-owners Jeffrey Lynd the chef and Mike Baldwin, Zax offers an atmosphere that will please both bar goers and couples on their  first date, inside and at cozy tables for two on a small patio. In addition to comfort foods such as pizza and quesadillas Zax offers diners and bar patrons alike a great selection of dishes to enjoy with the big variety of beers, wines and specialty drinks. Starters include steamed mussels and calamari and several home made soups and salads, and pastas, burgers, and sandwiches fill out the lunch menu offering. Dinner entrees are much more ambitious, featuring delicacies like sesame-crusted tuna, grilled flat iron steak and wonderful fresh sea scallops. And don't forget to ask about the nightly specials. Sunday brunch includes Americana and Mexicana specialties and French toast. A warning: save room for tasty desserts like ginger creme brulee and incredible cheesecakes all made in house.
