Alborz adds a welcome Persian remnant to Austin's quiltwork of continental cuisine. Moe Kosari's pleasant eatery, named for the Iranian snow-capped mountain range, features native foods from through  the Middle Eastern region, with the dominant staples being rice and kabob dishes and Persian stews. Following appetizers and sides like torshi leeteh, tabouli and coocoo sabzi, and tasty soups and salads, diners can choose from a wide variety of meat and chicken entrees, including chelo kabob-e barg, lamb shank, and joojey kabob. Stews include khoresh gheymey and bademjan. There are ample vegetarian choices and filling combination plates, and the chef's specials include delicacies such as sabzi polo mahi (salmon with herb rice). Desserts are just as authentic and diners can call ahead for  the schedules of belly dancers.
