FoodHawk Review:
It's difficult to slot Aussie's into a restaurant category. Conveniently located on trendy Barton Springs, It could be considered a fabulous sports bar, with 25 TV monitors for active patrons enjoyin
g a wide range of beers, wines, margaritas and custom beverages both inside and on a large patio overlooking the city. Of course it is considered a popular eatery that serves the best of Sout
hwestern and Australian comfort cuisine along with fine steaks and seafood dishes. Finally it must be considered downtown Austin's premier beach volleyball venue, featuring spring and summer league p

lay. Whatever you consider Aussie's to be your key description will be "fun!" It really starts with the food, a menu that includes something for every palate. Appetizers include fried mushrooms, nachos, fried crawfish tails, and Southwestern egg rolls. Sandwiches run the gamut from a wad of great burgers (the Roo is a must!) to rib-eye steak, turkey and guacamole, and a "black cat" catfish special. Another Aussie's feature is the "chook," a tasty combination of broiled or fried chicken, Swiss cheese, mushrooms and all the fixin's, and many people regard the Aussie's club as the biggest and best in Austin. A variety of salads, soups, fries and other sides dress up the plates, and a remarkably varied selection of entrees include Cajun catfish, the "Great Barrier Beef" sirloin steak, tuna steak, and tender grilled or blackened pork chops. After dining, if you don't plan to continue the margaritas while watching competitive volleyball, try Aussie's original "frosty bananas," a devilish combination of frozen sliced bananas, chocolate syrup, whipped cream and cinnamon.
