FoodHawk Review:
"Cead mile failte," or "one hundred thousand welcomes" is the calling cry at B. D. Riley's, an authentic Irish Pub that opened in 2000 in the historical and beautiful Hannig Building in the heart of t
he Sixth Street Entertainment District. The building was built by the husband of Susannah Dickinson, the last Alamo survivor. The pub, a great change of pace on 6th, is the brainchild and passion of J
ohn Erwin who retired from the Austin beverage business to pursue this dream. It honors the Irish spirit embodied by Bessie Dee Riley, daughter of 19th Century Texas pioneers. This has all the earmarks of a "Cheers," with good food, perfect pints, friendly staff, live music and a cast of regular characters. You'll find tasty starters, soups and salads, sandwiches, entrees and desserts, to be chased down with Guinness Stout and a world class selection of other beers, whiskeys and beverages. A fun feature or game or event is scheduled just about every day and night, and if you check their website you can always get a "to the second" countdown to St. Patrick's Day.
