Celebrated chef Steve Howard, founder of Fredericksburg's very successful Navajo Grill, has left that restaurant in good hands and opened Bonterra, a new lunch only eatery south of Fredericksburg. Only open Tuesday through Saturday for lunch, Chef Howard is specializing in Cajun, Creole, and eclectic international cuisine. The salads, like the Bonterra Waldorf are show stoppers, and you can find  favorite South Louisiana specialties like crawfish enchiladas, Southern cooking like corn fed farm catfish, and wonderful desserts like New Orleans bread pudding. The chef, who has been widely acclaimed in media, including Food & Wine, Texas Monthly, Los Angeles Times, Southern Living, Washington Post and National Geographic, is also taking his act on the road. Under the banner Buffalo River Cuisine he is doing independent consulting and producing gourmet meals and special events in towns and cities across Central and South Texas.
