Take a family friendly bar, an old-school diner and a low-key Mexican restaurant, shake them up, and put them in a nondescript building in the heart of east Austin's 6th Street strip center and you have Dario's Mexican Cuisine. A spacious neighborhood favorite holding its own against better known east Austin Tex-Mex restaurants, Dario's, located on the same block as a hair salon and car repair shop, revels in its local flavor. While the decor favors neon and linoleum over a more "authentic" look, the food is just that: homemade tamales and guacamole accompany tasty tacos and enchiladas that will satisfy any craving for traditional good Tex-Mex. The friendly wait-staff and family atmosphere enhance the neighborhood vibes.
