Every great city must have a couple of "go to" beer pubs, and for the last 15 years, The Dog & Duck has served as one of Austin's finest. Located between downtown and The University, it has also served as a "cool location" for a number of movies, including "Miss Congeniality," but for the most part it's been the scene of much beer ingestion. The motto is great food, great beer and great atmosphere. As for the food, it's pretty much pub grub: burgers, fries, fried appetizers, wraps, sandwiches and the relatively healthy odd soups, salads and veggie entrees. A great story: in 1997 the pub began  offering mixed drinks and held on for about four years before discontinuing them and going back to beer.literally dozens from across the U.S. and around the world.
