For years, Austinites headed to Habana on trendy South Congress for hearty portions of hot and spicy Cuban food and ice-cold mojitos, a refreshing blend of rum, sugar and mint. When word spread in early '05 that a fire had destroyed Habana, loyal customers mourned. Luckily, it didn't take long for the owners to relocate to a pleasant spot on East 6th Street in the heart of downtown. Now, longtime  Habana customers join the downtown office crowd at lunch to savor Cuban delicacies such as fried plantains, roast pork empanadas and congris, a flavorful mixture of black beans and white rice. The casual restaurant with its laid-back atmosphere has become a happy hour hot spot thanks to plenty of outdoor seating, a prime location and a good selection of imported beers and island-style cocktails.
