As another tribute to the globalization of Austin cuisine, Hai Ky serves its south Austin constituency with memorable Vietnamese food from a decidedly downscale strip center, nestled by a Laundromat.    Owner Hai Tran, who also owns Tan Tan in north Austin, has created an oasis for his native Vietnamese and lovers of the Asian influence alike, through grand family service, and tasty, well presented  food. Bountiful servings of appetizers like pan fried dumplings, a variety of fried rice dishes and beef, chicken and stir fry noodles are followed by imaginative entrees like vermicelli with chicken, pork, shrimp and beef. Hai prepares a number of his own "creations 4 world domination," including sate and ginger beef and Kung pao and general chicken. An ambitious selection of vegetarian dishes  includes a variety of noodle, vegetable and tofu combinations. The hearty meals and friendly service are a boon to south Austin and are worth a trip from anywhere in the Austin area.
