Kerbey Lane Café has spread to three other locations around the city, and the South Lamar restaurant is one of those homegrown eateries that gave rise to the phrase "keep Austin weird." Just about any time, night or day you will see as many folks waiting outside as you will people seated inside. The wait has actually become part of the experience.there's a feeling of chumminess rather than frustration. When you finally do order, the food could be described as more "fun and comfortable" than gourmet. For any meal there are migas and a number of egg dishes, along with some of the most filling gingerbread pancakes you've ever eaten. For lunch and dinner the emphasis shifts to salads, soups and sandwiches, and for any meal desserts are too good to pass up. Oh, and the coffee makes the early wait worthwhile.
