Long before she left the hectic Austin restaurant scene in 2001, Rebecca Rather had developed a stellar reputation as one of the leading bakery and pastry chefs in  Central Texas. In fact, she has become known as the "Pastry Queen," a fact she openly espouses in her new book by the same name. Rather Sweet Bakery & Café in Fredericksburg has given Rebecca and  co-owner Dan Kamp a perfect venue to display her baked goods and "goody" talents and it has become one of the real destination dining establishments in the region. Serving lunch and dinner to locals  and Hill Country visitors, Rebecca still draws on the same unique talents and concoctions that have garnered acclaim such as one of Saveur Magazine's "100 Favorites" in 2003. There are bacon-cheddar  scones, Texas high hairs tarts, turbo-charged brownies with praline topping, and so many more.
