Growing up in Carteret, NJ, Dan Saccone remembers well the great neighborhood pizza places scattered around the town. Tiring of a banking career and remembering in his many visits to Austin that there  weren't enough "mom and pop" pizza shops, he moved here and with his wife Joanne opened the first Saccone's in Leander in 1996. A second store has now opened at Research and Anderson Mill, and now Austinites need only take a short trip for a "Jersey" pizza. Featuring regular and "sweet" sauce, the combinations are endless, and can include either a mix of "house" toppings like mushrooms and pepperoni or "gourmet" toppings like eggplant and anchovies. If pizza isn't your thing you can choose from a long list of cold and hot subs, hot dogs, calzones and strombolis. Dan figures his Yankee friends  will love his food and for the others he wants to "make Jerseyans out of us yet."
