T.G.I. Friday's, one of America's first great hip singles chains, has swept the nation over the past thirty five years. It began as the ultimate glitzy "see and be seen" singles haven but has morphed  over the years into an equally appealing family destination (could the '70s wild children have grown into parents and grandparents!!). The trademark red and white checked tablecloths, stained glass and brass rails still appeal to all, and the restaurant has taken "variety menu" to its highest level.there is little you can't order here. Friday's now has three Austin locations and each is as different as it is the same. At 111 E. Cesar Chavez attached to the Radisson Hotel downtown workers can lunch or end the day "happy" before turning the restaurant over to bat watchers, tourists and conventioneers. The bar is full and lively and the food is mostly American comfort, sprinkled with an international flair. You can order entree sized starters, tasty salads and soups and a memorable range of burgers, sandwiches, pastas and meat and seafood entrees. The desserts are special and there's a full Children's Menu. After all these years, New York City born Friday's hasn't lost a step.
