Austin Italian Favorite Opens New Location in Georgetown
Romeo's Italian Restaurant will open the new location on Oct. 1 on the Historic Downtown Square in Georgetown, Texas. With their first location on Barton Springs Rd. in Austin, Romeo's is expanding north of its downtown-area location, and chose the historic Old Masonic Lodge building on Georgetown's historic downtown square.
"I truly believe Georgetown is the perfect location for us to expand our business," said Bernard Brozek, co-owner of Romeo's Italian Restaurant. "The crowd here is so diverse - college-aged to retirement - and they all know what it means to have a fantastic dining experience. From authentic Italian meals to drinks and live music, Romeo's in Georgetown will be a new hot spot up north."
They get it," said Christopher Damon of Damon Manriquez Partners, Ltd., and owner of the Old Masonic Lodge building in Georgetown. "Romeo's is a perfect fit for Georgetown and Williamson County. They understand the passions and sensibilities of this community. Their fantastic approach to Italian dining will bring a breath of fresh air to the County, and a great energy and vibrancy to Downtown."
Georgetown is the County Seat of booming Williamson County, among the fastest growing counties in the United States. The tremendous growth has fueled a renaissance of unique retail and restaurant space on the Historic Courthouse Square, with many buildings -- including the Old Masonic Lodge building three years ago -- having received million dollar renovations. Even the Courthouse is receiving a $9 million dollar renovation. "Romeo's will play a big role in Georgetown," Damon said. "This is a very creative group of savvy and experienced restauranteurs. I can't wait to see what incredible things they have in store for Williamson County."
Romeo's arrival in Williamson County will do it's part to meet the extraordinary un-met demand for full-service restaurants in Georgetown, where, according to a 2006 CAPCOG Retail Analysis, a staggering 76.3 percent -- $81.4 million -- is annually spent on dining outside the city by Georgetown residents who are unable or unwilling to spend it locally.
"We're very proud to Welcome Romeo's to Georgetown," Said Mark Thomas, Director of Economic Development for the City of Georgetown. "There's a great story being told up here in Williamson County, and it begins with 'Georgetown is open for business.'"
"I lived in Georgetown for years with my family, and am elated to come back as a business owner," said Brozek. "We just love the people and the ambiance of Georgetown, and know that everyone here will appreciate and support local businesses like Romeo's. We adore the charm of the downtown square and can't wait to open in October."
Romeo's Italian Restaurant opened in 1993 and has been under new ownership since 2004. The Austin Chronicle's Best of Austin 2005 named Romeo's the most romantic restaurant in Austin - a familiar accolade to Romeo's year after year.
