At the Lewisville location of the El Fenix chain, the oldest Tex-Mex restaurant in North Texas, business tycoons and construction workers, families and singles enjoy good food in a casual, laid-back setting. El Fenix has been a staple of the Metroplex's Tex-Mex dining scene since 1918 when the Martinez family started serving Tex-Mex classics like nachos, tacos, enchiladas and quesadillas to the masses. The restaurant is popular with those watching their waistlines thanks to its extensive low-carb menu and with parents who greatly appreciate El Fenix's kids' menu which features dishes even the  pickiest kids will eat. On Wednesdays, El Fenix is always packed thanks to its unbeatable enchilada special - two cheese enchiladas covered with chile con carne, fried pinto beans and Spanish rice for  less than $5.
