At the Plano West location of Abuelo's Mexican Food Embassy, an upscale Mexican chain started in 1989 with locations in more than a dozen states, diners enjoy well-prepared Tex-Mex and interior Mexican cuisine in a vibrant setting. Abuelo's is immensely popular thanks to its relaxed atmosphere, friendly service and extensive, well-priced menu. In addition to inexpensive lunch specials and senior meals, Abuelo's offers happy hour specials including $1 off appetizers, margaritas, draft beer and mixed drinks. While Abuelo's margarita is much praised, it's the sangria swirl, a frothy combo of frozen sangria and frozen margarita that diners ooh and awe over. Signature menu items include the enchiladas de cozumel, three avocado enchiladas covered in a rich white wine sauce with shrimp, scallops,  mushrooms and roasted peppers and the margarita pie, chilled lime pie topped with whipped topping and drizzled with tequila cream.
