Night after night, week after week, the rich and powerful descend upon Al Biernat's, an upscale steakhouse in the affluent Highland Parks neighborhood. The well-appointed, plush restaurant is loud and  boisterous. To truly enjoy your meal, request one of the intimate booths lining the main dining room or a table in one of the more private back rooms where you can actually hear your dining companions without shouting at each other. The restaurant is named after its owner who learned how to run a successful restaurant during the 22 years he worked as maitre d' and general manager of The Palm, a highly acclaimed downtown steakhouse. Well-prepared cuts of high quality beef take center stage at Al-Biernat's. The huge New York strip steak is deeply gratifying as is the juicy filet mignon. For non-meat lovers, there are plenty of fish options.
