As a fourth generation Tex-Mex chef, Matt Martinez, Jr. honed his culinary skills in his father's popular Austin restaurant, Matt's El Rancho. His large, family-friendly Lakewood restaurant, Matt's Rancho Martinez, attracts a loyal following of Dallasites obsessed with the restaurant's Bob Armstrong Dip, an addictive concoction of creamy queso mixed with ground beef, guacamole and sour cream. The  menu features Tex-Mex favorites like fajitas, flautas, enchiladas and tacos. Frosty, appropriately sweet margaritas are the perfect accompaniment to the spicy food. For those on a budget, Matt's offers daily $6.25 lunch specials (available all day on Tuesdays). On nice days, the shaded patio is a pleasant place to eat.
