FoodHawk Review:
Whether you begin your evening in the popular Skybar or its Terrace overlooking the north Texas countryside and arriving flights to D/FW, a private tasting in the cozy Wine Cellar, a tour of a bustling open kitchen, or head straight for the lovely main dining room, you are certain to have an evening to remember at Tuscany Art in Dining. Tuscany is Metroplex' new "go to” restaurant just a stone's throw from Main Street Grapevine and down the street from the dramatic Gaylord World. Clayton Phillips has opened his dream eatery, built in equal parts on his memories of growing up working in his dad's Florida seafood place, and his travels and experiences throughout Italy's Tuscany region. He thinks of his establishment as a "personal tour of an amazing part of the world,” complete with original artifacts, paintings, pictures, furniture, and of course wonderful Tuscan food and wine. Ah, the cuisine! Begin with a tomato Caprese or Mediterranean salad, accompanied by antipasto like Tuscan house stuffed shrimp or fried eggplant Napoleon, move ahead to Clayton's "Art in Steaks,” a selection of veal, pork and beef dishes, topped with special sauces, that will make the most experienced diner drool. The seafood selections are just as tempting…Aragosta Cotta (char grilled stuffed lobster served table side), seafood Newburg, crab cakes and shrimp prepared so many ways. If that's not enough peruse the wide variety of chicken and pasta dishes. Work with John Kemp Sommelier to pair your meals with just the right wine from the cellar, and be sure to save room for the wonderful chocolate soufflé, bananas Foster, or Italian wedding cake.
